Dr. George Yee Laboratory of Anatomical Sciences (University of Manitoba)
Bockstael was engaged as the Construction Manager on an extensive renovation of the human anatomy lab and associated support spaces at the University of Manitoba’s Bannatyne campus. Located in a lower floor at Health Sciences Centre, the space was overhauled from it’s original 1975 condition to provide a laboratory for leading education and research in Canada.
The project incorporated advanced technologies to accommodate current learning styles and remote instruction. The scope of work included significant ventilation, lighting, and infrastructure upgrades. Bockstael provided detailed budgeting and extensive value engineering to assist in meeting the University’s target budget. Project planning and sequential procurement was done to minimize the overall project duration and maximize the amount of work completed while class terms were not in session.
Designed by Stantec, this project won Bronze in the 2020 WAN Awards, hosted by the London-based World Interior News, in the Learning Category.
