About the Opportunity

The Construction Technology and VDC Coordinator at Bockstael Construction will lead our virtual design and construction (VDC) and technology initiatives. This role focuses on integrating technology solutions into construction operations, managing third-party technology and modeling providers and advancing the firm’s digital transformation.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Maintaining the Bockstael Brand with all clients, employees, trade partners and supply chain partners.
  • Technology Leadership: Champion construction technology and VDC practices across the company, driving adoption, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Third-Party Coordination: Manage relationships with external modeling and technology service providers, ensuring timely, accurate, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Clash Detection and Model Coordination: Oversee the clash detection process, coordinate resolutions, and ensure seamless integration between architectural, structural, and MEP trades using tools such as Navisworks.
  • Construction Sequencing and Simulation: Facilitate the use of 4D simulations to optimize schedules, construction sequencing, and resource allocation, collaborating closely with project teams.
  • Technology Implementation and Support: Identify, evaluate, and implement innovative construction technologies. Provide training, guidance, and support to project teams to maximize technology use and benefits.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of VDC processes, technology integrations, clash reports, and model management to ensure clear communication and transparency.
  • Champion and provide support that promotes a safe work culture.
  • Ability to work in the city of Winnipeg, with flexibility travel within Manitoba may be required.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience coordinating VDC or construction technology processes within the construction industry.
  • Advanced knowledge with strong proficiency in Navisworks, construction simulation software, and familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant project management software.
  • Self-starter, and possess a strong work ethic with a self-imposed desire to exceed everyday expectations
  • Superior communication and collaboration skills to effectively manage internal teams and external providers.
  • Previous experience supporting or leading technology implementation or VDC initiatives is preferred.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify technology-related challenges and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications:
    • CM-BIM certification or equivalent technology-related certifications are considered an asset.
